On Sunday 21 June, we’re celebrating all the amazing dads out there — and to say thank you, Dads travel FREE* on our steam trains! It’s a great experience for all the family, with something that both kids and grown-ups can enjoy together.

Trains depart from Bitton Station (BS30 6HD) at:

• 12:00
• 13:15
• 14:30
• 15:45

One free Dad’s ticket with each full-priced accompanied adult, concession, or child ticket. (Bookings in advance only.)

Your experience lasts approximately 50 minutes, travelling both ways from Bitton Station. First you’ll head north to our station at Oldland Common. Next you’ll travel back south onto the more scenic part of your journey to our station at Avon Riverside before finally returning to Bitton. At either end of the line you’re welcome to disembark and watch the locomotive running round to the other end of the train. Here you’ll have the opportunity to get up close to our day’s locomotive, as our crews couple up the engine.

Back at Bitton, enjoy a range of hot and cold refreshments from the station buffet, or pick up a souvenir from the gift shop.

‘DADS GO FREE’ terms and conditions:

• One ‘Dads Go Free’ ticket is permitted for each full paying Adult, Concession or Child on Sunday, 21st March 2026 for ordinary travel on timetabled trains departing from Bitton Station at 10:45, 12:00, 13:15, 14:30 and 15:45.
• ‘Dads Go Free’ tickets are only available in advance via avonvalleyrailway.org or by calling 0117 332 0435 option 1 – they are NOT available from the booking office or buffet at Bitton Station, and NOT on-board the train.
• ‘Dads Go Free’ promotion cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or proposition – exclusion also applies to (but not limited to) dining options such Bitton Belle and Cream Tea, plus Footplate Rides.
• ‘Dads Go Free’ tickets limited per train – if a train is marked ‘sold out’, no more tickets are available for that particular train.
