Permanent Way & Lineside Operative
2 days a week • £22 – £23.5k FTE depending on experience
(Will involve both weekday and weekend working at times)
We’re looking for a well-organised individual to maintain our Permanent Way and other lineside infrastructure. There will be a mix of hands-on duties including Basic Visual Inspections of the line and practical tasks associated with maintaining track, platforms, buildings, bridges, culverts, drains, ditches, fences and lineside vegetation. You’ll build a team of volunteers to complete these tasks including ongoing repairs as well as larger renewal projects.
As an operational railway we work within a strict framework so you’ll need to manage, record and monitor work activities to work within our Safety and Competence Management Systems to meet our legal obligations.
Ideally you’ll have previous experience of working within a railway environment (heritage or mainline), but other engineering and/or project management backgrounds will equally be considered.
