As a small charity we are reviewing all options available to us and reviewing advice given by the government, our NHS and our professional body the Heritage Railway Association. Along with the rest of the country, we are facing an extraordinary set of challenges with the coronavirus outbreak.
We will keep this page updated so please keep checking back.
Train services, dining trains, courses and special events
We have regrettably cancelled all train services until the end of April 2020. Special events and courses during this time have been postponed and we will look to reschedule these wherever possible.
These are never easy decisions and all will be done to protect our customers, volunteers and staff but also to protect the viability of your railway. Please keep an eye on this page for details.
Bitton Station buffet is also currently closed, in line with current Government restrictions. Further details on when we can re-open will be provided as soon as these are known.
The gift shop is closed until further notice. We will look to offer some of our souvenirs for sale through our website or eBay. Keep checking back here for more details.
The line ahead
As a charity, our aim is to preserve our railway history for the local community to enjoy into the future. We are one of the many fantastic tourist attractions in South Gloucestershire and our real pride comes when we see visitors with a smile on their face – rediscovering the delights of a steam engine or inspiring the younger generations in the exciting worlds of history, engineering and travel.
We’re also immensely proud to support our local community – whether that’s providing employment for 30 local people, supporting apprentices and young people into careers in the rail industry, supporting local food producers through our buffet or giving an enjoyable past-time for a few hundred dedicated and loyal volunteers – for many it’s now a way of life, a social lifeline and their opportunity to give back.
None of this is possible without the support of you – our visitors and supporters. More than ever, like much of the nation, we will rely on your support to weather this storm.
As the economic climate gets more difficult over the coming weeks and months, we really need all the support we can gain – through donations, legacies or time – to keep us on track and keep this wonderful resource available for all to enjoy in the future.
In these difficult times there are many ways you can help – please consider joining us, or following and sharing our social media accounts (links at bottom of this page) or signing-up to our monthly newsletter (enter your email address below) to stay in touch.
Wishing you all the best of health.
