bitton station 2005Institute of Railway Operators visit

On Saturday 6th March the Institute of Railway Operators took over the Railway for the day.

They operated the railway to an intensive service shadowed by our qualified staff. Organised by Paul Stanford (AVR volunteer and Customer Relations Executive at Network Rail) it involved the Managing Director from First Great Western and several other senior managers and management trainees from First Great Western, Arriva Cross Country and Network Rail.

The staff took on all the operational roles – Driver, Secondman, lead Signalman, Signalman’s agent and Guard operating the two trains; one passenger train in the form of the 2-car Class 107 DMU and one freight train hauled by BR Class 07 0-6-0DE No.D2994.
