end of season gala 2010

n2 teaksFor those of you who are not aware, this year’s proposed Gala visitor, N7 No. 69621 owned by the East Anglian Railway Museum is unable to visit due to work being carried out at the South Devon Railway after its axle box failure.

However, we have managed to secure N2 No. 1744, Courtesy of the Gresley Society which is a more than suitable replacement; with both locomotives being so similar to each other.

This is all great news and we look forward to a successful visit, but unfortunately it has come to light that when we published our recent poster/flyer for the gala, we had changed the loco details, but not the actual owner of the engine. We apologise for any inconvenience and confusion this may have caused and would again like to point out that the loco is owned by the Gresley Society, whose website can be viewed here.

Tickets are already available over the Internet through our online Shop at a discounted price.

Thanks to First Great Western we are now able to offer a joint national rail and AVR train ticket, giving you national rail travel to Keynsham station, free vintage bus service between Keynsham and Bitton and unlimited travel during the Gala. Simply ask for a through ticket to the AVR.

Information about the Gala and the various other events being held during the locomotive’s visit will be updated online on the Gala webpage available here.

We will also be running a steam service on the 27th of October in place of the advertised DMU, using the loco with tickets sold at our usual prices. Details of all our events connected with the visiting locomotive will be posted online as soon as possible.

For more information please contact Bitton Station on 0117 932 5538.
