GWR Heavy Freight locomotive No. 4247 was another visitor to the Avon Valley Railway in 2011, this time for just over a week during November.
The visit followed a lengthy and expensive overhaul at the Flour Mill workshops in the Forest of Dean, and the time was spent running in the locomotive ready for its use on the Bodmin Railway's Santa Special trains.
The visit was also used by the owners of the locomotive to hold their Annual General Meeting at Bitton.
