27th june special event - polish day

karelThis Sunday, 27 June, the Avon Valley Railway will be running a special day to commemorate its links with Poland.

Pride of place will be the Polish steam engine ‘Karel’, an 0-6-0 tank engine which was built in 1954 and has been lovingly restored by its owner and will be pulling all the trains that day.

With the Polish flag flying proudly from the flagpole in the station gardens, you will also be able to admire the colourful national costumes worn by the Polish singers and dancers as they entertain the crowds during the afternoon (1.30-3.30).

Any visitors arriving in national costume will be given free train rides.

As ever, the station buffet will be open all day to provide hot and cold food and drink and the souvenir shop will be open.
