Our dining trains aim to recreate the glory days of the railway dining car. The Pines Express was the Manchester to Bournemouth long-distance service that ran daily through Bitton between 1910 and 1967. Come and re-live this experience with our two and three course Sunday Dining Trains.
You’ll embark at Bitton Station before the whistle sounds and the train gently pulls away. In the kitchen the chef busily prepares your meal with the finest local ingredients while you relax and watch the rolling Avon Valley countryside pass by. The journey consists of a number of six mile round trips and you should allow approximately three hours for the occasion. These trains are usually steam hauled and depart at 12.15pm.

A delicious three course meal with coffee and mints £39 per adult and £29 per child

TWO COURSE PINES EXPRESS
A delicious two course meal with coffee and mints £31 per adult and £25 per child
Trains depart: 2 April, 7 May, 2 July, 6 Aug, 3 Sept & 1 Oct.
On both of these services the on-board bar will be open serving a selection of wine, beers and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. For your comfort and safety smoking is not permitted on the train. Parents are reminded, for the benefit of the serving staff and other guests, that children should remain seated at all times during the meal.
Enjoy a welcoming glass of Prosecco followed by a High Tea of finger sandwiches, scones with jam & cream and a selection of dainty cakes or pastries. Plus tea or coffee.
Served on the following Bank Holiday Sundays: 16 April (Easter Sunday), 30 April, 28 May and 27 Aug. Just £21 per adult and £16 per child.
New for 2017 – Brunch
Join us onboard for Sunday Brunch on our first train of the day at 11am. Enjoy a set menu of orange juice, bacon, sausage, egg & mushroom bap, danish pastry and tea or coffee. The perfect way to start to your day!

Evening Dining Trains
If you’re looking for a relaxing evening out, why not try our evening Meals on Rails dining trains. These are more relaxed than our lunchtime services and depart Bitton Station at 6.45pm. They are usually hauled by one of our resident steam locomotives.
We offer a range of meals onboard;
- Fish and Chips (served with mushy peas and bread) followed by ice cream: 19 April, 31 May, 26 July & 23 August
- Curry Evening (followed by ice cream): 16 Aug
- Pie n Pint: 9 Aug

Murder Mystery Evenings
You are invited to join us for an evening of mystery and murder. Victims and suspects gather on the platform before departure, ready for an exciting evening onboard the Avon Valley Express. During the evening there will be plots to unmask, intrigue, and even the occasional murder. Can you help the Chief Inspector unravel the mystery and solve the most important question of all, whodunit?
Our exclusive Murder Mystery trains depart at 6.45pm on 6 May (Sherlock Holmes), 23 September (Ello Ello) & 29 October (Terror Train)
Prices are £45 per person.
Please note, some elements of the murder mystery event are enacted on the station platform so it is advisable to wear warm clothing.
