In recent weeks Bitton has been the location for the filming for two BBC TV series.
Friday 31st July saw the production crew and cast of BBC’s Casualty filming for an episode of their new series which is due to be aired on Saturday 28th November (but please check the schedules nearer the time).
The filming involved two of the Railway’s locomotives; Class 73/1 No.73101 ‘The Royal Alex’ and the Ruston Hornsby 0-6-0DH No. 429, which were used in the shot, which depicted one of the characters being hit by a train moments after narrowly avoiding another.
Saturday of last weekend saw the BBC return again to film a short sequence of the passenger service arrive from Oldland Common. The footage is to be used in a series called “Country Tracks” exploring the UK’s network of rural paths, which is to be presented by Ben Fogle. Tuesday of last week saw the shopping channel QVC filming onboard the train to promote new clothing collections that will feature shortly.
Of course, the Railway is no stranger to filming. Casualty has carried out filming before, including the creation of a mock signal box near Bitton North Crossing. Late last year a music video was filmed inside one of our coaches for the band “Archive”. Pictures of both are on our gallery, and the music video can be seen on YouTube.
Filming in March 2009 brought snow to Bitton, well at least fake snow, when the Station was transformed for a series called “The Four Seasons” which is to be aired on German TV on Christmas Day. So if you haven’t paid us a visit recently, it is just possible you will see Bitton on the box soon! The AVR is not responsible for the content of external websites.
